Connecting truck drivers with mechanics when it matters most
Fix My Truck approached Victra Studio with a vision to revolutionise the UK logistics industry. Based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, they identified a critical problem: truck drivers experiencing breakdowns faced lengthy downtimes waiting for qualified mechanics, costing the industry millions each year.
They needed a platform that could efficiently connect drivers with mechanics in real-time, reducing downtime and keeping the logistics industry moving. The challenge was creating a solution that worked seamlessly during high-stress breakdown situations when every minute counts.
We built a comprehensive platform that connects drivers with mechanics in minutes, not hours
For Fix My Truck, we designed a comprehensive technical architecture using modern web technologies that prioritize performance, reliability, and security—critical factors for a platform serving essential logistics operations.
The stack we implemented delivers a seamless experience across devices, ensuring drivers can quickly get help regardless of their location or the device they're using.
We leveraged Next.js 15's advanced features to create a lightning-fast, responsive interface that functions seamlessly across all devices. Using React Server Components and the App Router, we optimized for core web vitals, ensuring quick load times even in areas with poor connectivity—essential for drivers who might be stranded in remote locations.
The platform's complex matching system required a reliable database solution that could handle location-based queries, truck type specifics, and mechanic specializations. We implemented PostgreSQL with Prisma ORM to create an efficient database architecture that powers the matching algorithm, connecting drivers with the right mechanics quickly and accurately.
With different user types requiring unique permissions and profiles, we implemented Auth.js to create a secure, role-based authentication system. This ensures drivers and mechanics have appropriate access levels while maintaining a seamless login experience across devices. The system includes JWT token management and secure session handling for persistent logins.
Time-sensitive notifications are critical during breakdowns. We integrated Resend for reliable transactional emails, ensuring drivers and mechanics receive immediate alerts about matches, updates, and estimated arrival times. The system includes templated emails with dynamic content, delivery tracking, and failover mechanisms to ensure critical communications always reach users.
From our initial discussions with Alex Anderson and the founding team, it was clear they had a strong vision for the platform's aesthetic—a minimal, clean, modern design with a restrained color palette.
"We're huge fans of black, white, and grey tones," Alex explained during our discovery sessions. "The trucking industry is often represented with loud, dated designs, but we wanted something that felt premium, straightforward, and distinctly modern."
This design direction perfectly complemented the platform's "Less Hassle, No Bullsh*t" ethos. The monochromatic palette, generous whitespace, and clean typography create a distraction-free interface that allows drivers and mechanics to focus on what matters most—getting trucks back on the road quickly.
Since launching, Fix My Truck has delivered significant business value for both drivers and mechanics across the UK transport industry:
Established a nationwide network of qualified mechanics covering all major transport routes across the UK.
Achieved average response times of 14 minutes from breakdown report to mechanic dispatch—a dramatic improvement over traditional services.
Users report significant reduction in breakdown-related downtime, creating substantial cost savings for transport companies.
Over 500 registered drivers in the first six months, with consistent 12% month-on-month growth in user acquisition.
Near-perfect availability ensuring the platform is ready when drivers need it most during critical breakdown situations.
Estimated cost savings across the logistics industry by reducing vehicle downtime and improving operational efficiency.
Working with Fix My Truck was a refreshing experience for our team at Victra Studio. The project presented unique challenges that pushed us to think creatively about how technology could solve real-world problems in the logistics industry.
What stood out most was the clarity of vision from the founding team. Their understanding of their industry's pain points and their commitment to a focused solution made our job as developers much more straightforward.
The minimalist design direction aligned perfectly with our own design principles, allowing us to create a platform that's not only functional but also visually distinctive in an industry often characterised by outdated digital experiences.
From a technical perspective, building with Next.js 15, Prisma, and PostgreSQL gave us the perfect toolset to create a platform that could scale with the company's ambitious growth plans. The integration with Auth.js and Resend provided the security and communication capabilities essential for a platform connecting service providers with customers.
We're particularly proud of how the platform prioritises simplicity without sacrificing functionality—a balance that's often difficult to achieve but critical for services used in high-stress situations like vehicle breakdowns.
Fix My Truck represents what we believe good digital product design should be: focused, user-centred, and solving a clear problem without unnecessary complexity.
"Victra Studio took our concept and transformed it into a platform that's changing how truck breakdowns are handled across the UK. Their technical expertise with Next.js and database design created a solution that's truly disrupting our industry. The response from both drivers and mechanics has exceeded our expectations."

Founder, Fix My Truck
We're working closely with Fix My Truck to bring their vision for the platform's future to life through innovative new features.
Live GPS tracking will allow drivers to share their exact location with mechanics and follow their mechanic's journey to the breakdown site in real-time. This feature will dramatically reduce wait times and improve coordination between parties, providing peace of mind during stressful breakdown situations.
Complementing our email notification system, we're implementing SMS alerts for critical updates. This ensures drivers and mechanics receive time-sensitive information even when email access is limited—essential for professionals on the road who may have limited data connectivity in remote areas.
Our most ambitious upcoming feature is an AI-powered diagnostics tool that will analyse photos and descriptions of truck issues. Leveraging machine learning, the system will provide preliminary diagnoses and recommend appropriate mechanic specialisations before they arrive on-site, saving valuable diagnostic time and helping mechanics arrive better prepared.
Simplifying the administrative side of breakdowns, we're developing an integrated invoicing system. Mechanics will be able to generate professional invoices directly through the platform, with automated expense tracking and optional payment processing integration. This streamlines payment collection and provides more professional service documentation.
These upcoming features represent our ongoing commitment to innovation and our collaborative approach with Fix My Truck. Together, we're continuously enhancing the platform to better serve the UK's logistics industry with solutions that truly address the needs of drivers and mechanics.
Beyond platform development, we implemented a comprehensive SEO strategy to ensure Fix My Truck could be easily discovered by drivers in distress and mechanics seeking opportunities.
Our approach included thorough keyword research focused on the logistics and transport industry, optimisation of all on-page elements, and creation of relevant, valuable content addressing the challenges faced by truck drivers across the UK.
We also built a technical SEO foundation that included a mobile-optimised experience, improved site speed, and structured data implementation to enhance search engine visibility and understanding of the platform's services.
At Victra Studio, we deeply believe in Fix My Truck's mission to offer a completely free platform that supports the transport industry—an essential sector that keeps our economy moving. Because of this alignment with our values, we've made an unprecedented decision.
We continue to work closely with Fix My Truck on their SEO strategy free of charge. This includes monthly technical audits, content optimisation, and performance monitoring to ensure the platform remains visible to those who need it most.
This partnership reflects our belief that technology should be accessible to all, especially when it serves to solve real-world problems for hardworking professionals. By supporting Fix My Truck's growth, we're indirectly supporting every driver who relies on their vehicle for their livelihood.
This powerful motto encapsulates the platform's commitment to straightforward, efficient service. We designed Fix My Truck with this principle at its core—cutting through the complications typically associated with breakdown services, delivering direct connections between drivers and mechanics.
